In short
- No data collected. appserre has no server: we receive neither your credentials, nor what you watch, nor your IP address.
- Hop TV only contacts your IPTV provider's server, the one you entered, and Google Play to check your subscription.
- Your devices sync directly, over your Wi-Fi, encrypted.
- No account, no ads, no analytics. This is also what we declare in the “Data safety” section of Google Play.
1. Who publishes Hop TV?
Hop TV is published by Nicolas Saurel, a sole trader (entrepreneur individuel) operating under the trade name appserre (full details in the legal notice). For any question: info@appserre.fr.
2. Data stored on your devices
- Your source: server address, username and password, or the address of your M3U playlist and programme guide. Credentials are encrypted with a key kept in Android's secure keystore and are never written to the app's logs.
- Your provider's catalogue (channels, films, series, programmes, images), cached for fast display.
- Your usage: favourites, playback positions, history, hidden categories, preferred languages.
- The parental code, stored in a scrambled (hashed) form from which it cannot be recovered.
This data stays on your devices. We have no access to it.
3. Connection to your IPTV provider
To show the catalogue and play videos, Hop TV connects to your provider's server with the credentials you entered. As with any player, this provider then sees your IP address, your username and what you watch. It processes this information under its own rules: appserre has no link with it. If your provider does not offer a secure connection (HTTPS), exchanges with its server are not encrypted; Hop TV uses HTTPS whenever it is available.
4. Sync between your devices
Your devices (“the household”) share a secret key, passed on by QR code or a 6-digit code. They then find each other on your local network and directly exchange your favourites, playback positions, settings and the source credentials. These exchanges are encrypted (AES-256) and never go through the internet or an appserre server. A device removed from the household loses the key and erases the source credentials.
To set up a TV from a phone without the app, the TV shows a QR code that opens a page served by the TV itself, on your local network. The credentials you enter are encrypted in the phone's browser before being sent to the TV.
5. Camera
The camera is only used to scan the pairing QR code. The code is read on the device by ML Kit, a component provided by Google. No image is saved or sent. As stated in its terms, this component may send Google technical statistics about its own operation (performance, device model), which do not contain the images.
6. Subscription and payments
Purchases (monthly or yearly subscription, lifetime purchase) go through Google Play. Payment is processed by Google: we never receive your bank details. The app checks with Google Play whether your purchase is active; neither your IPTV credentials nor what you watch are sent when it does so.
Google gives us limited information about orders (order number, product, date, amount, country). We use it only for accounting and to help you if there is a payment problem. The data Google processes for payments is covered by Google's privacy policy.
7. Permissions requested
- Internet access: to reach your provider's server and check your purchase with Google Play.
- Local network and Wi-Fi: to find your other devices and sync with them.
- Camera (phone and tablet): to scan the pairing QR code. If you refuse, you can link your devices with the 6-digit code.
Hop TV does not access your location, contacts, photos or microphone.
8. Analytics and crashes
Hop TV contains no analytics tool, no advertising ID and no third-party crash reporting tool. If you have agreed in your device settings to share diagnostic data with Google, Google may give us overall, anonymous statistics on the app's stability. They contain neither your credentials nor what you watch.
9. Backup
Secret keys and source credentials are excluded from Android backup. To get your favourites and progress back on a new device, link it to a device in your household.
10. Retention and deletion
Your data stays on your devices until you delete it. “Leave household” erases the household key and the source credentials. Uninstalling Hop TV erases all its data from the device.
11. Children
Hop TV collects no data, including children's data. The content shown depends on your provider; adult categories are hidden by default and protected by a code.
12. Your rights
As we hold no data about you in the app, you exercise your rights directly in Hop TV: you can view, change and delete your data yourself. For data processed by your IPTV provider, contact them.
If you write to us, we use your email address and message only to reply, and keep them for no more than 3 years after our last exchange. You can ask for access, correction or deletion at info@appserre.fr. You can also lodge a complaint with the French data protection authority, the CNIL (www.cnil.fr), or with the authority in your country.
13. Changes
If this policy changes, for example when a feature is added, the new version will be published on this page with its date. If the change is significant, the app will let you know.
